Not yet.
I have to admit that I only scratched the surface so far (of VDMX that is - in QC still having trouble even scratching...) Will dive into this more tho. I just thought I'd share the link because many people were asking for freeframe fx... |

I compiled the plugin the other day.
There's mixed news:
The plugin does work in Quartz Composer, although with the Pete Warden FreeFrame plugins, I noticed the control port names were a bit 'glitchy', with odd characters.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get a QC with an embedded FreeFrame FX to work in VDMX (I just got a blank output when I added the FX to a layer).
Maybe someone else will have better luck..

Hey all,
Just wanted to give a quick follow up on this one..
I finally had a little time to look into this tonight and I found a very simple workaround that gets the QC FreeFrame Host object working with VDMX.
I posted a compiled version of the plugin, the FreeFrame FX, and an example qcFX that uses the FX:
http://www.vidvox.com/david/VDMXFFQCFX.zip
THIS DOWNLOAD WILL ONLY WORK IN LEOPARD (MAC OS 10.5 OR LATER)
Basically the work around is.. before passing the image from the input splitter to the FFHost object, I ran it into a Render In Image object that contained just a Clear and a Billboard object. The output of that went into the FF Host object and then to a billboard for output.
Some more (free) FreeFrame FX's for the Mac can be found here:
http://www.petewarden.com/
Perhaps someone feels like making "wrapper" patches for each of the Pete Warden FX with input splitters for all their parameters for the rest of the community? It should be pretty easy to adapt the example patch from my zip. I would recommend using a live input (or a movie file) to test each FX in QC to get an idea of how intensive the FX is (some that I tried only got a few fps in QC) and to find good default values.
- David @ VV
ps. I tested the contents of that zip file on a few different machines.. on one of my test machines for some reason the host object forgot what FF FX it was supposed to be using and I had to open up the patch in QC, tell the FF Host object which FX to use, and then reconnect some input splitters.. I haven't figured out why, but it worked fine after reconfiguring the patch.. and I only had to do it on the one machine, on all the others I just had to put the three included files in the right folders. |
