I made a video to show how i use my iphone to control the VDMX Interface with TouchOSC, but the standard TouchOSC Interfaces shipped with the release was not confortable to use with VDMX, so i programmed a own interface who reflect my Interface in VDMX.

VDMX Interface Setup

- 8 Layers
- 4 Subgroups à 2 Layers (a,b,c,d)
- 2 Subgroups à 4 Layers (A/B)
- 1 MainMix A/B
- 2 Submix a/b:c/d
- MediaBin
- 2 Preview Windows

I play with my friend this Friday in St.Gallen (Switzerland) as VJTeam SynAck&SynFin @ Kugl (www.kugl.ch)

We test @ this event if it is possible to use 2 iphones with one MacBook Pro running VDMX. We will post some pictures and videos after the event.

Hy nobbystylus,

if you have jailbroken your iphone it is easy to do i think.

here is a little howto Wink

    1. connect to your iPhone using a scp client (winscp on win or cyberduck on mac)
    2. go to /private/var/mobile/Applications/134DDEABA-8087-473E-9652-782D90292184/TouchOSC.app/ (the numbers after Applications are diffrent on your iphone) you will have to search for your touchosc.app
    3. copy the folder inside touchosc.app, for example; mix-16.touchosc or simple.touchosc to your local harddrive
    4. go into the folder you copied to your local harddrive, you will see a index.xml file inside that folder
    5. open the xml file and adjust it to your needs, there will be some sliders, knobs and buttons, i think if you know a little bit xml you will understand it.
    6. rename the folder mix-16.touchosc to abeltonlive.touchosc or something meanfully
    7. copy the folder abeltonlive.touchosc into your touchosc.app folder on your iphone
    8. start your TouchOSC App on your iPhone and select your new interface

Note: i think it is the best solution if you work from one side of the iphone screen to the other and maybe draw your interface to paper, because you have to move every slider/knob/button with x and y (absolut) so they fit to screen and dont overlap each other.

i'm happy to here that you played a few days before there Smile how was it?
are you one from the abbruchhaus label?

hope i could help

patrick

Looks Great,

Why not ask the people over at TouchOSC to include your interface in their next update ?

I thought i have read something about he is working on a interfacebuilder like mrmr. it would be much easier to develope your own interfaces. it would also be nice if you can send your own interface to iphone or download it with your iphone. so you can quickly change your interface to your needs in much less time.

maybe next week, if i find some time, i'll do more than one vdmx interface with diffrent max layers (4,6 and 8 ).

If someone have other ideas/suggestions what we can put on a interface, write or draw it down here, so we can make 2 or 3 diffrent versions for vdmx and send them over to TouchOSC or we do a election which interface we want send to TouchOSC if we only can release one of them.

Hello all! Greets from rob @ hexler.net!

Good to see there is so much activity creating interfaces for
TouchOSC. Please rest assured that the interface editor application
is on its way. I've been working on it since TouchOSC was released,
the whole application was set up from the start to be customizable. The
whole "pre-made interfaces" thing was just to be temporary all along as
it makes no sense to dictate the look/layout of a virtual touch-control-surface
for the multitude of applications people are using the application for. I guess
everyone agrees! Very Happy

Sadly my resources and time are limited of course so it will take some more
time until the editor is ready for prime-time. I hope you understand. The good
thing is, with the editor there will be no more need to jailbreak your phone/pod
and also I will make it as easy as possible to upload new layouts to the device
(bonjour FTW!). Expect some news on this on the TouchOSC site very soon,
originally I was aiming for a release date for the editor for december last year,
but unforeseen events made me postpone the release. Now I think it's more
likely the editor will arrive in February, so sit tight, the revolution is coming!

cheers,
rob
